INDUMARSAN WITH SPORT

indumarsan con el deporte

Indumarsan has been supporting sport for several years. Indumarsan F.C. was created in 2009 with the intention of supporting sport, at the request of its employees, forming this team in which Indumarsan staff, their friends and anyone who really wants to participate and have a good time playing sport have been playing for the last 6 years.

The main objective is not to be the best, the best position was a fourth place in the 2014-2015 season, the aim is to create a link outside the work environment.

For 2016 we are also creating the Indumarsan Cycling Club, in which we will organise open rides on weekends for all those who wish to join us.

Indumarsan and sport always go hand in hand, and more and more.

Regards.

FROM UGLY DUCKLING TO SWAN

Knowing that we are a consumer society, where the use and throw away is part of our essence, and that a large number of the products we buy we do not give any use, some companies or individuals through their websites, blogs or videos, show us how to turn the products around, so we can give them that use that we need. We aim to give you ideas on how to use our products.

The idea is simple, it’s about empowering people how to repair and improve their products before throwing them away. The first thing is to give users creative ideas of what they can do with what they have.

To do this we will need different materials such as hot melt adhesives, also known as hot melts. Their main characteristic is that they are in a solid state at room temperature. When they are heated above their melting point, they turn into liquids, which is when they can be applied to certain substrates. These cool and solidify, resulting in the formation of highly cohesive bonds with excellent elasticity. In order to be able to use it, it is necessary to use a gun suitable for its use.

INDUMARSAN IN THE MAROC CHALLENGE RACE

The Maroc Challenge is an event that takes place every year on Moroccan soil.

It is a peculiar race in which there are several categories; professional, amateur and charity. In addition to trying to reach their destination after travelling 3,200 kilometres through the desert and mountains of Morocco, participants aim to help the most disadvantaged areas through which they participate. In the Maroc Challenge, companies and foundations work together to develop and implement tailor-made projects. An example of such collaboration is the glue and adhesive company Indumarsan, which, seeing the needs of many children, has done its bit. This spirit of solidarity is what has made us, Indumarsan, sponsor the CRT team, which, within the amateur category in which they were participating, managed to win the race.

Maroc Challenge is a genuine low-cost rally. It is a simple definition but with as many nuances as there are participants, because each participant experiences the Maroc in their own way and the incredible thing is that we all fit in. There is room for those who have experience and come to compete, there is room for those who have never taken part in a raid and come to have fun, there is room for those who dream of crossing Morocco without setting foot on tarmac but are looking for the support of an organisation and there is room for those who are simply looking for adventure and that is the only thing we ensure for everyone! What’s more, you have to come to discover what you are looking for in the Maroc Challenge, because sometimes we are surprised to find something we didn’t even know we were looking for, and that is perhaps the true spirit of the Maroc.

PUR HOT MELT VS HOT MELT EVA

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF USING HOT-MELT POLYURETHANE (PUR) VERSUS STANDARD HOT-MELT IN BOOKBINDING.

Disadvantages of PUR:

  • More rigid, the book can have a clamping effect (it closes by itself and is difficult to keep open).
  • There are few varieties of PUR and for thick books they are not very suitable. They cannot be used for rounding the spine of the book.
  • Deteriorates in about one hour with ambient humidity
  • Depending on the glue application system, machine downtime causes a certain amount of adhesive to deteriorate and become unusable.
  • It does not always react in the same way, as it depends on the ambient humidity and the humidity of the paper. In summer it reacts faster than in winter. If the paper is very dry, it reacts very little. This means that there are differences in the setting time (crosslinking) of the adhesive to make it fully workable.
  • The book cannot be fully handled for 24 hours. Dropping the book when picking it up or other manipulations deform the book.
  • It contains isocyanate, even the so-called ecological ones contain a small amount and this product is toxic and can cause skin and eye irritations. Prolonged inhalation can cause asthma.
  • Normal hotmelt allows higher application speeds and therefore higher efficiency and productivity than PUR.
  • Much higher price compared to hotmelt (about 3 to 4 times more).
  • It generates waste cans from the packaging, which have to be destroyed in an authorised landfill, which represents a cost, while the bags are household waste or can be sold.

Advantages of PUR:

  • Stronger chemical bonding in PUR. The bonding of hotmelt is physical. PUR reacts with ambient humidity and with the humidity of the paper, so it chemically bonds to the paper fibre.
  • It is more resistant to extreme temperatures, especially below freezing.
  • It is best used on paper with low absorption or with a lot of ink or highly glossy or heavily varnished paper and on paper with cross-fibre (counter-fibre) where normal hotmelt adhesive has difficulty penetrating the paper.

Conclusion:

PUR adhesives are excellent for problematic papers such as heavily varnished, heavily inked, highly glossy and/or low absorption papers such as catalogues and the like, but for all other books or magazines with more normal papers it is not justified by price, performance or toxicity.

In addition, there are many more standard hot-melt varieties for all types of books, machine or rounded, while PUR is much more limited and produces books with low flexibility.

GLOBAL PACKAGING TRENDS IN 2017

tendencias mundiales embalajes

An overview of the challenges facing ‘next generation’ brands, consumer needs and packaging innovations to transform the global packaging industry in 2017.

There is a parallel path between brands striving to engage consumers on a more personal level and the influence that packaging has on consumer expectations.

Indumarsan reveals the five key trends that will impact the global packaging industry: a look at the challenges of ‘next generation’ brands, the needs of consumers and the packaging innovations set to transform the global packaging industry in 2017.

  • Reconciling Package Structure and Branding

The time has come for brands to deploy unique packaging structures that not only differentiate on shelf, but also help shape and support brand identity.

  • The face and role of online packaging

As e-commerce grows, brands must explore both the opportunities and threats this can bring, as the shift from in-store to online shopping becomes an essential part of the conversation in which packaging can play a differentiating role.

  • Packaging is smart, active and intelligent

Technology is nowadays present in all areas of our lives, the term smart packaging refers mainly to two characteristics:

– The first is the ability of these containers to extend the life of their products with chemicals that prevent them from going rancid or acquiring mould.

– The second is that these containers have a built-in device that changes colour when the contents change their characteristics, such as taste or nutritional properties.

  • The packaging experience

Packaging design has become a matter of mastering the need for brand recognition and variant identification and information. Consumers are looking for an experience beyond the simple consumption of the product, such as reuse of packaging.

  • Extend my brand

Price is a key factor in consumers’ purchasing decisions, but brand trust also plays a key role. Brands can leverage trust to build loyalty and extend a product portfolio beyond traditional categories.

USES AND APPLICATIONS OF HOT MELT ADHESIVES IN THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY

In the automotive industry, components used for design and manufacture must meet strict standards of quality, safety, reliability and adaptability. Any component that does not meet these requirements is immediately rejected.

So when truck and car manufacturers choose an adhesive to join components together, they usually opt for quality adhesives such as the Hot Melt range of hot melt adhesives. Hot melt adhesives are widely used in the automotive and truck manufacturing industry as they provide strong and flexible bonds between components.

THE BODY OF A CAR.

The body of a car may look like a large piece of metal. However, the body of the vehicle is made up of several panels. To join these panels together, as well as the doors, manufacturers use high-performance hot melt adhesives. Using hot melt at high temperatures, the panels are bonded together in a secure and durable way, while the vehicle still retains its design and appeal.

CARPET AND ROOF

The carpet of the car or truck must adhere firmly to the floor of the seating areas. When we get in and out of the car, our shoes push against the carpet. To keep the carpet taut and in place, manufacturers use equipment with hot melt adhesives to bond the carpet to the body of the vehicle.

The layer that covers the roof of the vehicle has a natural tendency to sag over time, so it also needs a strong adhesive to keep it in place. In areas with hotter climates, vehicle roofs reach very high temperatures. Therefore, companies use Hot Melt that can withstand high temperatures.

ENGINE AND ELECTRONICS

But industrial adhesives are not limited to the bonding of plastic materials. The high strength and durability of these adhesives make them ideal for use in various areas of the engine, transmission, radiators and even batteries.

In addition, hot melt adhesives are commonly used for cable insulation and for coating electronic components, and thanks to their high strength they are an exceptional alternative for protecting wiring and electrical components.

SEATS AND INTERIOR

To give readers an idea, almost everything you see inside your vehicle, be it cars or trucks, has used high temperature adhesives to bond the various parts together.

It goes without saying that car seats, fabric, foam or metal require a safe and stable adhesive as it is one of the most heavily used and worn areas of the car. This is why hot melt adhesives are a great choice for this part of the vehicle.

CONCLUSION

Hotmelt adhesives have a wide variety of uses in vehicles, ranging from the outer casing to the internal electronics area. Using the right adhesive is vitally important to keep your car or truck running as efficiently as possible.

THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO PUR HOT MELT POLYURETHANE ADHESIVES

Discovered in the 1980s in Switzerland, PUR Hot Melt technology has become increasingly popular, first throughout Europe, then in the United States.

What exactly is PUR? Polyurethane, or PUR, is simply a chain of polymers that share similar chemistry, bonded together by urethane.

How is it different from traditional hot melt? PUR is a so-called “reactive” adhesive because a chemical reaction needs to occur for the adhesive to unfold its potential. There needs to be some moisture to trigger that chemical reaction. The good news is that there is sufficient moisture in the air around us and usually in the material being bonded.

A drying period of 24 hours allows the moisture in the air to react with the PUR melt to create a strong bond.

-Characteristics of PUR hot melt

It is flexible and adapts to different uses: it can be fixed hard or remain elastic.

It tolerates the widest temperature range and is therefore equally effective for indoor and outdoor applications.

It is fast drying.

Achieves a high quality bond with products that are normally difficult to bond, including non-porous materials. Works with materials that are different from each other.

Less adhesive is needed for a strong bond, and less is lost during the application process.

PUR is known for its ease of use: no mixing or measuring is required.

Its ease of use and fast drying time translates into faster production, leading to lower labour costs.

Once sets, it can be sanded and/or painted and will not shrink or deteriorate.

-Main applications for PUR hot melts

Assembly and furniture manufacturing rely on hot melt adhesives.

Woodworking industry. Fast curing makes this adhesive ideal for woodworking. If you are a furniture maker, there is nothing better to enhance your work than using hot melt adhesives to create strong and durable models.

Product assembly: PUR hot melt bonds to plastics, glass, aluminium, stainless steel and other metals. Most electronic and automated assembly lines benefit from this fast drying adhesive.

Construction: Hot melt technology excels when it comes to its application for sealing windows, gaskets, foams, fabrics, plastics, particle board and light metal applications. Floors, remodels, countertops and shower walls benefit from hot melt adhesives’ ease of use and fast drying time.

-Main differences between PUR hot melt and traditional hot melt adhesives.

PUR hot melt technology has reduced or eliminated the disadvantages associated with traditional hot melt.

PUR melts better with substrates that are sensitive to high temperatures.

Joints are much stronger at high temperatures with PUR technology.

PUR’s reactive technology creates a stronger bond than most other adhesives.

The fast cure time and bond strength provide longer lasting bonds in manufacturing environments.

The flexibility of PUR, together with its resistance to high temperatures and other environmental conditions makes PUR adhesives the best choice for outdoor and indoor environments.
